• How can I get to my hotel from the airport?

The island doesn't have an airport, but Aktion Airport in Preveza serves travelers. Buses from the airport to Lefkada Town and vice versa are available and if your accommodation lies in Lefkada Town, taking the bus and walking for a while will probably work for you. However, if you stay in another village, you'll have to board another bus or proceed with another means of transport to reach your hotel.
Car rental desks are found inside the airport, while taxis can be found outside. We highly recommend booking your transfer or rental car in advance if you are visiting during the high season though. Car rental agents can bring your vehicle to the airport premises upon request so that you can leave immediately!
Finally, keep in mind that some hotels offer a shuttle service to guests, so contact your accommodation in advance to get informed in case you're interested!

• How can I get to my hotel from the port?

The two ports of Lefkada are located in Nidri and Vassiliki. If your hotel is located close to the port you'll arrive at, you can easily reach it on foot.
Nidri is connected by bus with Lefkada Town, Ligia and Nikiana, while Vassiliki is connected only with Lefkada Town. Therefore, a public bus can serve you if your hotel is in one of these villages.
Alternatively, you can take a taxi (which we don't recommend for large distances due to the high cost), book a transfer or rent a car. The latter is probably the best choice if you plan on exploring the island. Again, we highly recommend booking your transfer or rental car in advance if you are visiting during the summer. You can ask your car rental agency to bring your vehicle to the port and start your journey in Lefkada right away!

• How can I get to Lefkada Town?

Lefkada Town can be reached by bus from several villages on the island, the two ports, and the airport. Of course, private transfers can also get you there, while taxis will probably take you to the town if the distance is not very long. Finally, by having your own car or other vehicle, you can reach not only Lefkada Town but every accessible spot on the island!

• How can I get to some of the finest beaches?

A rental car is a convenient way to reach numerous beaches, especially those located far from Lefkada Town and the more hidden ones. Buses from Lefkada Town reach several seaside destinations and beaches, while taxis are always an alternative option.
Keep in mind that some popular beaches on the western side of the island, such as Egremni, are hard to reach and require visitors to go down (and then up) several steps. For that reason, water taxis from Vassiliki approach Egremni, Porto Katsiki, and Agiofili while some boats from Agios Nikitas go to Mylos Beach.
