Nestled between Skiathos and Alonissos, the mountainous Skopelos is the second largest island in the Sporades and the most verdant island in the Aegean Sea, as 80% of its terrain is covered by lush pine forests! Besides its stunning natural landscapes, Skopelos is renowned for its mesmerizing beaches, where the crystalline waters take on a palette of mind-blowing hues.
Where is Skopelos? Skopelos is situated around 13.4 nautical miles from southern Pelion in the region of Thessaly, central Greece. The closest island to it is Alonissos, whose southernmost tip lies around 2 nautical miles from Skopelos.
The island does not have an airport, while the main port is in Skopelos Town, the island’s capital. Ferries connect Skopelos Port with the neighboring Skiathos and Alonissos, as well as with mainland Greece (Volos, Thessaloniki, Agios Konstantinos and Euboea). Two smaller ports receiving passenger ferries can also be found in Glossa and Agnontas, on Skopelos’ western coast.
This section proposes a map of Skopelos with all the major locations of the island.
