Therefore, having your own car is the best way to discover all these beauties shared by Kassandra and Sithonia without depending on fixed routes and destinations.
Those who are going to visit Halkidiki in the summer are advised to book their rental car as early as possible. In fact, it is possible to pick up from the International Airport of Thessaloniki to start your vacation without wasting time!

• How can I get to my hotel from the airport?

Halkidiki does not have an airport, so the International Airport of Thessaloniki is the one serving travelers. After landing in Thessaloniki, there are many different ways to reach Halkidiki. The most affordable option is to get to the KTEL Halkidiki bus station in Pylaia (a 10-minute taxi drive from the airport) and board a bus to the area of Halkidiki where your hotel is located. The most convenient way is to rent a car (either on site or have it booked in advance and receive it from the airport upon earlier request) and drive to your accommodation unit directly. Alternative options include taking a taxi from the rank outside the airport or having a private transfer scheduled.

• How can I get to my hotel from the port?

Halkidiki has some small ports, but those are not connected to other destinations except for local ones. This means that you can't reach the area by ferry. The closest port to Halkidiki is the port of Thessaloniki, which is connected with many destinations, including Athens, the Sporades and the islands of Northeastern Aegean. Your transportation options are the same as in the case of arriving at the Thessaloniki Airport - bus, rental car, taxi, and private transfer.

• How can I get to some of the finest beaches?

The most convenient way to explore the jaw-dropping beaches in Halkidiki is by car. The most impressive beaches, such as Kavourotypes and Armenistis, are located in Sithonia, the middle "leg" of the three peninsulas of Halkidiki. On the other hand, the first peninsula, Kassandra, also has magnificent beaches with much more life and energy. Alternatively, you can take a taxi or book a private transfer, but that may be quite pricey if you want to visit many beaches during your stay. Lastly, there are buses that stop close to some beautiful beaches, like Elia and Kalamitsi, but destinations are limited and schedules are fixed.

• Can I rely on public means of transport?

The only public means of transport is the bus. Itinarires become more frequent during the summer, yet destinations and timetables are fixed. We strongly recommend renting a car, as it allows for a richer and much more flexible schedule.
