In brief, Astypalea has a national airport that receives only direct flights from Athens. To get to Astypalea from other islands, taking the ferry is the only option.

The airport of Astypalea (JTY) is located in the very center of the island, on the narrow stretch of land joining the two halves of the butterfly-like island. It lies 8.5 kilometers northeast of Astypalea Town and the port that connects Astypalea to other destinations in the Cyclades and the Dodecanese.
It is also known as Panagia Airport and is small in size, with a 989-meter-long runway, which means that it can only serve small-sized planes.
It is connected to the International Airport of Athens and receives exclusively domestic flights from the Greek capital. Flights are available throughout the year, but the frequency of itineraries increases during the high season.
