Milia Mountain, wine and olive tasting jeep adventure
General Description
Embark on a unique safari adventure where you'll explore the essence of Cretan village life. Learn valuable information about olive picking, olive oil production, Cretan wine, honey-making, and the traditional distillation of raki and tsikoudia drinks. Immerse yourself in Cretan cuisine, culture, history, and traditions!
We will start our journey by visiting Ano Vouves. There, we will first marvel at the legendary 3,000–5,000-year-old olive tree, still bearing fruit! Capture stunning photos and experience its historical significance. Then, our visit to a traditional stone olive mill will allow us to explore a small, typical Cretan farm, before taking a relaxing break with a cup of mountain tea, coffee, or fresh orange juice while soaking in the countryside’s relaxing aura.
At Anoskeli’s Olive Mill and Winery, expert sommeliers and producers will introduce you to the art of wine and olive oil making. Savor organic extra virgin olive oil on some warm bread with oregano, salt, and lemon juice. Afterward, we will indulge in a wine-tasting experience, sampling five different local labels paired with delicious Cretan snacks. Enjoy a private moment while relishing the island’s flavors!
After an exciting off-road Jeep safari, we will arrive at Milia Mountain Retreat, where time seems to stand still. With zero electricity, this 17th-century mountain settlement embraces a “back to basics” philosophy, and is recognized by National Geographic as one of the world’s top 50 eco-tourism and agro-tourism destinations. We will also enjoy a delicious Cretan lunch paired with local wine, beer, or homemade soft drinks.
Enjoy the breathtaking wilderness of Topolia Gorge, a true spectacle of Cretan nature! Capture mesmerizing photos of the rugged landscape, watch mountain goats roam freely, and see the vultures soaring from their nests into the clear sky. This is the ultimate safari adventure!
