Kythira (or Kythera) is a beautiful island located near the southern part of the Peloponnese in Greece. It stands out for its Medieval architecture, secluded beaches and wonderful natural scenery.
Despite being on the side of the more alternative destinations, Kythera is able to cater to the needs of various categories of travellers, including families, solo travellers, nature lovers, low-budget travellers and couples.
The most touristy places in Kythira are Agia Pelagia, Chora, Kapsali, and Avlemonas, where hotels are close to lively beaches, restaurants, and cafe bars. Nevertheless, if you seek quieter places, a drive around the island will bring you to traditional villages, like Potamos and Mitata, hidden beaches, including the spectacular Kakia Lagada and the lovely Lykodimou, and many more.
