Ios Kalamos beach

General information

The long and sandy beach of Kalamos in Ios is a gorgeous place with soft golden sand and crystal waters. It is mostly secluded and receives a small number of visitors, even in the high season. Surrounded by rocky cliffs covered in bushes, the beach is considered a special spot for adventure.

In Kalamos, you have the opportunity to enjoy the sun and swim in the transparent waters of the Aegean Sea, spending some hours far from the cosmopolitan crowds of Chora. The sea is ideal for diving adventures and snorkeling, too.
For those seeking a peaceful haven, Kalamos will definitely fit your taste.

On your way to the beach, you will encounter the Byzantine monastery of Agios Ioannis, a preserved building that dates back to the 19th century. The most important religious festival takes place there on 29th August to celebrate Saint John.

To reach the beach, follow the road to Manganari Beach passing through Mylopotas. The isolated beaches of Papas and Plakes are located in proximity to Kalamos.
