Samos is one of the most beautiful islands of the Eastern Aegean region. This gem stands out for its lush green natural setting, quaint fishing villages, and stunning beaches.
Given that the island sits very close to the Turkish coasts, there are daily ferries to Kusadasi in Turkey.
What’s more, it offers an amazing opportunity for island hopping to the nearby islands of Ikaria and Fourni.

The island's coastline is fringed with many beautiful beaches, such as Tsamadou, Tsabou, Psili Ammos and Agios Konstantinos.

If you manage to peel yourself away from the beautiful seashores, you should go sightseeing! There are many archaeological monuments and sites from several historical periods all around the island.
According to the ancient Greek mythology, Samos was the home island of goddess Hera. That’s why the locals constructed a large sanctuary, the Heraion, in her honor.
The Tunnel of Eupalinus is located close to the Heraion. This tunnel was used as the aqueduct in ancient times and it is among the greatest technological achievements of its time.

For those who love exploration, there are even more places to discover! One of them is the Monastery of Panagia Spiliani above Pythagorion. There, you’ll find a mysterious cave church, where the holy icon of the Virgin Mary was allegedly found.

Tsamadou beach
A large beach with exotic waters, Tsamadou is located on the northern side of the island. Part of this beach is organized, while another part is used by naturists.
Kokkari village
Kokkari is among the most tourist places in Samos, without losing its relaxing atmosphere and traditional style. Many accommodations and nice beaches are found in the region.
Potokaki beach
Potokaki is a lovely, pebbled beach close to Pythagorion, on the southern side of the island. It is organized with sunbeds and umbrellas and it gets very busy in summer.
Lemonakia beach
Lemonakia is a crystal, pebbled beach on the northern side of the island. This place is organized and provides a good chance for a long day at the beach.
Pythagorion village
Pythagorion is a charming seaside village on the southern side of this island. Many interesting sites are found in the region, such as the temple of Heraion and the Tunnel of Eupalinus.
Pythagorion Archaeological Museum
This collection is housed in the Town Hall of Pythagorion. It contains sculptures, inscriptions, statues and fragments of graves dating back to the Archaic and the Roman period.
Sanctuary of Heraion
Dating from the 6th century BC, this sanctuary was dedicated to goddess Hera. According to the myth, this is where Zeus and Hera had their honeymoon.
Karlovassi village
Karlovassi is a beautiful village and one of the two ports in Samos. Many places of natural beauty and wonderful beaches are found in the region. On the slopes of the hill is the old quarter of the town.
Tours to Turkey
Since Samos is very close to the Turkish coasts, many daily tours are frequently held to Kusadasi, the Turkish town right opposite Samos.
Museum of Samos Wines
It is housed in a magnificent 19th-century stone building, which originally operated as a private winery and later as a warehouse and barrel-making facility.
Cave of Pythagoras
This cave is the place where the famous mathematician Pythagoras was hiding when his political opponents were chasing after him.
Tunnel of Eupalinus
Constructed in the 6th century BC, this tunnel was a great technical work of the ancient times. This was a water tunnel and its construction took only ten years.
Waterfalls
Close to Karlovassi and Potami, there is a region of natural beauty with lush greenery, small rivers, and waterfalls. This is an ideal place to stroll around in nature.
Monastery of Spiliani
On the hill above Pythagorion is the interesting Monastery of Panagia Spiliani, constructed on top of a cave where a miraculous icon was found.
Windsurfing
Windsurfing can be practiced in Samos, particularly in the bay of Kokkari and in other beaches on the northern side of the island.
